Found sites that don’t support Linux or even Firefox?

I’m building a list of sites that don’t support Linux/Firefox (mostly for my Firefox add-on), and I’m also hoping to contact all of them pushing for Linux support.

I need your help:

  • Verifying sites are Linux/Firefox incompatible, especially the ones that need login…
  • Contacting sites, explaining that they are not considering X% of the web
  • Finding new sites to add to this list

The list is here.  Thanks!

  1. Hi,
well, I don’t know of any public site, but most SSL VPN vendors I know won’t work with Firefox/Linux even if their main access method if a web portal… A list of SSL VPN web portal that fail with Firefox/Linux that I know of, being forced to use a Windows VM to use them : Forti VPN, Palo Alto Networks SSL VPN, Checkpoint Endpoint security, Juniper Networks, SonicWall SSL VPN.
I don’t think much can be done about it, but who knows 😕

  2. When it comes to Firefox, if you need to use large fonts, google is horrible. Google+ notifications can not be read at all when fonts are bigger then 22. You also miss a lot of search results because it displays them below your monitor scroll ability. Try viewing a list of google documents with Firefox and large fonts. You can read about half the characters.

  3. software-center.ubuntu.com

It looks fine on Ubuntu, but when I view it in Firefox on Windows it’s corrupted.

  4. I like the idea of this addon, but it isn’t really effective. It ‘boycotts’ the website AFTER having visiting it for a second or so, which means the income of the website isn’t in danger. I’d love to see this app providing a warning or a boycott BEFORE clicking on a link.

Correct me if i”m missing something, but to me the additional inconvenience should be worth it.

    1. Yea, I haven’t had time to develop it further.. I’d eventually like to do the link checking as well.

If the page you are loading is say cnn.com, no requests will ever go to CNN.com. If endfhj.com includes content from CNN.com it might still got blocked but you are right part of endfhj.com will have been loaded, but there’s no way around that.
